Shift light / rpm gauge

Shift light / rpm gauge
Just wondering if anyone uses a shift light or rpm gauge, I have a set of defi bf advanced gauges and noticed that they do a 60 or 80mm rpm gauge on eBay.
When on full boost Im mainly focused on the road just thinking that it would be quiet useful so I no I'm not near red lining, I'm guessing there is a peak warning function that would kick in when u set to say 6000 rpm for example. I no its just a little look down but would like some sort of warning then I can just drive without worrying unless I hear the warning
Anyways this is the one I have seen on eBay : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEFI-80MM-...8AAOSwBahVFDn1
Or do any of you use shift light for visual warning instead.

"Turn the key to right before the car starts (the gauges will illuminate), dont start the car.
turn the rev thingy once and you will hear a beep. Look to where it normally shows outside temp and it will give you a number, i.e. 60, 45, (meaning 6,000 rpm, 4,500 rpm respectivley) use the rev knobby thingy on the left and turn it to the right or the left to set the light (your rpm gauge will actually follow the number you are setting)..after 3 seconds or so of not touching it, it will set. Then it will go to the audible shift beep, and you have a choice of on or -- (off). I'm pretty sure this (the audible shift beep)"

Just learn your engine noise!
When the engine revvs slower the pitch changes. Thats time to shift up. You will get used to it over time.
Peak power is never necessarily near the redline either, so it does not hurt to shift up sooner, especially in the higher gears!
