Default Most silent free flowing exhaust???

After some exhaust advice,

my current exhaust is a haywood and scott, very loud, cost over £700 new.

Was fitted by previous owner and is just to loud for my taste. using car alot with kids in and on motorways and it just drones.

i fitted bung and loved the quiet tone.

whats quietest exhausts, i dont mind the burble on idle and full chat but want it as quiet as possible on longer drives,

ive seen the Varex adjustable butterfly back boxes but cant find a uk dealer.

ideally id like to change the back box only so if i ever fancy the burble back its a 20 mins swap over.

the car mapped so need free flowing.

cheers

H and S are normally one of the quieter brands. The only brand that I know of that is quieter is Milltek

Be careful using the bungs, they restrict the flow of air quite a lot. I tried mine with a bung and it felt like I was running standard power or less

I'd say Milltek or Prodrive system and agree i wouldn't use a bung again, use to feel underpowered with it fitted. Basicly restricting air flow.

Another one for milltek, really quiet system but loud when you want it to be . Have a full milltek system with sports cat and de-resonated centre section running 400bhp.

And another for miltek 3" system sports cat running 330 , on previous impreza's I've had H&S and afterburner vortex exhausts and this is by far the easiest day to day system to live with .

Kev.

fujitsubo gikken one peice system, 94 db@ 6k rpm. Passes track day noise tests and still sets off the occassional over sensitive car alarm. They come up second hand frequently as they are too quiet for the average subaru owner.

Revolution ( Jetex)

Had 3" turbo back on my classic a few years back , had a good rep as being a quiet but unrestrictive system

Exhaust from Revolution is one of the quietest available.

What people need to remember is, if they have a standard unequal exhaust manifold, then it's gonna be a bit louder regardless of the exhaust fitted.

Is the centre section resonated or straight through? My H&S was straight through and really boomy, but H&S offered a resonated centre section and it's made a world of difference. Might be worth a try before taking the whole thing off.

All depends what you want and how you want it.
Like most things in the automotive game, you get what you pay for.
