It's true - I can confirm that Maz has paid me enough to say he's a nice bloke
I've just read about the event myself, and it does sound like a lot of fun. Details are in the latest copy of True Grip (April 2002). Might be along after all
Andy.

Maz, Im in the same boat as you (billy no scooby mates!) Ive been out of the scooby scene for a couple of years now and i miss my scoob badly. Back in early March i ordered an Sti UK with i take delivery for in July or August time. Now if everything works like clockwork then i will be going to the Isle of Man. Even the girlfriend might be interested!
I assume there is still places left??
I live in sunny Southend so it will be cool to meet up and drive there in convoy.

Matt,
Sounds grand mate. Will probably go via High Wycombe to pick up Andy C if he's coming, with his missus. You're going with your missus? Bugger. Gonna have to get a girlfriend soon just so I have someone to go with. Anyone fancy dating a reasonably good looking, funny, intelligent (no scratch that last one), extremely successful (not that one either) fantastic lover (DAMN IT!! - Is there nothing I can put)... scooby owner? Just for September you understand, no long term commitments.

Maz, The girlfriend does'nt have to come. If there are a number of us guys going along then that will be cool. However, one of my non-scooby driving mates has expressed an interest in going. I'll keep you posted.
What kinda Scooby do you drive? I used to have a 00MY Uk standard.

Maz,
I know quite a few of the 30 or so cars (most with partners/friends) that have already booked up for this event (we are hoping for 60 - 100 in total ).
Unfortunately, due to the data protection act I don't have a full list of those who have booked up, and only know those who have informed me (as organiser) about it.
I would say that the majority of those going looking forward to the socail side of the event as much as the driving
With regards to remaining spaces - one of the hotels (Mount Murray) is already fully booked, but there are still spaces left at the Hilton (complete with Casino!).
It costs only £50 to book up just now (over the phone using your credit card), with the remainder to be paid a few weeks before departure, and this will guarantee your room at the Hilton (where the gala dinner on the Sunday is being held). If the Hilton gets fully booked, then there are other hotels that we can use, but they are a bit out of the way, and perhaps not quite as nice.
Hope to see lots of you there for the best Impreza weekend of the year
John

Mrs C and I have decided we'd like to come
It's our wedding anniversary on the 17th (2 yrs, scary!), so we were planning to have a weekend away then anyway.
I'll look into booking it on Monday.

Should've done the weeked during the TT and put all your cars on the mad sunday dash. It was awesome! It was a very strange feeling driving the mountain run from Ramsay to Douglas overtaking bikes...
Hope you enjoy the roads

There are friends of ours (amonsgt many others we know) coming in a loud P1 coming from Aberdeenshire, together with my wife and I in our Sti 7. We have also booked our seven and five year old boys and my wife plans to have fun with them in the Hilton, while the big boys play!
Look forward to meeting new and old faces for a great wekend away.

I would really love to go to this Isle of Man event in September (I hope I'm not too late to get in), but I hardly know anyone on this bbs (some notable exceptions who know who they are!) so I have not corresponded with anyone who is going. It would be good to get to know people who are going so that when I turn up, I am not a stranger. Those who know me and have chatted to me can confirm I'm a decent enough bloke, honest! (I've paid them enough, they ought to...)
Also, it'd be good to find out exactly what is likely to happen, what we are going to be doing and if anyone wants to meet up in the Essex/Hertfordshire/Bucks area to drive up together. I am in Essex, so will take M25 and then M1 and M6 I suppose.
Hope to hear from some of you soon.
