Hi Any history on this scoob?
Hi there my name is Richard and I'm from a little fishing village in Aberdeenshire.
I have just bought a very special STI hatch in Pearl White with Cossie seats brakes etc and fly down to manchester on Saturday to pick it up
look forward to joining in on the forum and learn some things about this scoob
I am a total newbie to the Subaru, in the past I have owned a few Evos being my last was an Evo 8 MR FQ320 then a new Focus RS Loved them both but with my wife falling pregnant the RS was not suitable so we thought we better do the whole sensible family car, We bought a VW Tiguan R line and lived with this for just under a year, Last week we had just had enough of it and sold it very spur of the moment haha, Well after a week of searching I came across the subaru and we both instantly knew it was the one!
any way thats about it for me!
Does anyone know the car and be willing to go over the history with me? Im looking to get in contact with the previous owner if possible.
Regards
Richard

Its the one on ebay. The seats are std facelift recaros with a cosworth badge stitched on them
I also suspect they are std brembo brakes with cosworth logos. It does have a cosworth lower rear spoiler tho but thats it
Id tread carefully with it. Its not special in anyway imo

He only posted yesterday , so may just have deposit secured
If you do travel down to Manchester try take someone who can go over the car with you .. Do you have any info on service history & any previous repairs ie head gasket or ring land
What's the mileage on car ?
Welcome to SNET anyway

Seem to recall this car on PH, seller was trying to say it was a Cosworth or something similar, from what I remember it was just a few Cosworth stickers.

Just found it again on PH, assuming the calipers are just standard Brembo's with stickers on then the ONLY Cosworth part is the sticker on the Dash, even the rear waist spoiler is just a Subaru part that they stuck on the Cosworth.
You'be be better finding another 1.5k and buying mine, way better spec, less miles, even the same colour! ;-)

Hi folks. I've secured it I fly down on sat and no I don't have more money than sense and I didn't pay the listed price so in my opinion I'm happy with the price. Had a local detailer check the car out and the paintwork is all original and in good condition
It has had a stainless head gasket done so I'm told. Full Subaru history
I am a little shifty about a few things he has said but it's still worth a look.

Having head gaskets done wouldnt bother me, my old hawk sti had cosworth headgaskets done when i bought it back in 2010, the important bit is who fitted them! i was able to trace the history on mine back and fully trusted the garage that done it.
cosworth head gaskets are just uprated gaskets, same as RCM uprated gaskets. All manufactured by the same US company who just etch/cut in the particular name on the tabs of the gaskets!

Thanks for the replies and advice folks. After some more digging. It's been mapped by group b Motorsport receipt to prove no print out tho ho so I've been on the phone to them to get the print out sent to me. Not sure what kind of power it will be making.some pro cat back exhaust was purchased in 2012 for it from another Subaru dealer. The last owner was advised to get the head gaskit changed after the remap and this was done by a Subaru dealer also receipt to prove. Finding more out all the time not keen on the cossie branding so will be removing stickers etc if I get it. Will get in touch with previous owner before I commit.

The revised OEM gaskets work just fine Richard but as Gambit suggests , you should be asking who did the work & also any other work done ?
The EJ257 is a great engine with bags of torque when forged & built up properly .. just do your research & know what your getting into in OEM spec .... Lots of do's & many many
Dont's

The only receipts he has pointing to engine etc is service work from subaru the headgaskit at subaru and the remap at group b Motorsport and exhaust from subaru obviously haven't seen them in paper form as yet but the dealer said he has nothing to hide and has came across genuine plus answered about a thousand of my questions. He is taking photos of underneath and suspension for me today

standard engine bay. and if you look closely you can still see the STI logo below the cosworth one on the brakes

also, cosworth are 6 pot as opposed to STI 4 pot

to be honest - its a facelift hatch and they are rare enough. if you got it for decent money put it back to how it was meant to be and youve got a nice car
facelift got revised bumper, revised recaro interior and more importantly the Spec C suspension supposedly
exhaust is probably the Subaru Pro R exhaust made by Scorpion and the same as the Prodrive backbox

Thanks guys. Yeah got it a couple grand cheaper than his list price might try abit more since the previous owner loved a sticker pack! Lol so what rough figures should it be producing with a simple map and exhaust? I'll have to get it booked in to get a dyno run for a health check onit. Only thing I'm concerned about really is wondering if it has had other mods on in the past and been set up with them on then removed before sale and map left on. I know they run slightly too lean in standard form so hopefully the map will solve this if it's set up right anyone have any dealing with this group b Motorsport?
