Default car value out of interest

so obviously we dont modify our cars for a return, however i just wondered what mine would be worth these days

its a 1993 L plate wrx in fiery red, fully rebuilt from the ground up with an sti 5 engine fully forged built by API with all the goodies and running at a nice and safe 300hp.

pre facelift model - apexi suspension and sti interior (grey suade)
had cat 1 clifford fitted
rota lightweight drift alloys
tints
sti rear lights

ideas?????

As above people need to see evidence of the rear arches and around the petrol flap area for rust

Also rear sills amd any rust around the windscreen area And how orange is the red ?
Seats any stains or damaged door panels
How shiney is the steering wheel and gear ****
Picture and cleaning of the engine bay

Car could be worth anything from £800 -£2200 as it won't be a face lifted version and is 22 years old

The pre facelift cars are becoming more sought after, same with parts.
How many people have thrown pre facelift parts in the bin and replaced them with non standard facelift items, but people are wanting to return the pre facelift cars back to standard

The cars of that era are generally increasing in value, particularly for any in good original condition. Look at the ridiculous prices of stuff like xr3i's, renault 5 turbos, and 205 gti's. So, if it's in good condition, and the paint hasn't faded or bubbled, with plenty of receipts for the work from reputable places, plus a good thick wedge of specialist service history then I think £5k wouldn't be unreasonable.

It's a bit weird why they're still so cheap. Nice pre face-lifts are virtually extinct, even in Japan now.

I live in hope

Ignore this

Pre 96 UK turbo's or run of the mill WRX's might struggle but things like early RA's, limited edition's or early STI's will all make decent money if in tidy condition.

Great but the op car is a Wrx!! Imo these what's it worth or mine is worth more cause this and that are pointless. A car is worth what someone is willing to pay, how quickly you want to sell, others prices and the market at the time ect ect

Agreed, but a post above said that all pre 96 impreza's are worth 2 grand max, which is utter crap.

And yes the OP's car is only an old WRX but from his opening post it sounds like a half decent one. If it is what he says it is then it's worth considerably more than 2 grand.

These threads can't ever give someone an exact value because of the reasons you detail above, but what thay can do is give someone an idea of a price to advertise it based upon others opinions and their knowledge etc etc.

Seen a few good condition WRX's go near me for around £1800 mark, both done about 80k and no rust and quite clean. I wish i'd bought one now as i'm now looking for one.

Agree on the variants inc overall condition in that. It seems to me your very offended by the 2k yet there are a lot of Wrx that sell under that. On a plus note prices are on the up a bit for pre face lifts. Your car is limited there for different anyway and you should not compare it with Wrx prices. Sadly for the op the sti bits aren't going to get the full return just like any other year Wrx IMO.

I'm not offended one bit chap, I'm well aware of the value of my car. My point was that saying all pre facelifted impreza's are worth so little is quite frankly rediculous.
Agreed that most do sell for peanuts, but that is classic imprezas on a whole. It's not to do with year, it's to do with the car it'self and the fact that most classics are now owned by fecktards.
If the ops car is indeed very clean and does have a built motor then it will demand a premium over the usual ebay and Facebook tat.

usual scoobynet, posters have no idea of the different variants of cars.
a 20 year old wrx is NOTHING like an ra,only to those who know zip about imprezas

ok ok should have said wrx. agree special editions hold better money, even double value.
the sti ra does seem the best to hold valve.

Lol seems we are actually on the same page then I feel for the op as it sounds like it could be a good car, if it was an sti and not a Wrx on paper it would of been worth more then having the engine.
The sad thing is there are loads selling under 2k so not so ridiculous, pre face lifts are simply the oldest and there for more poor ones IMO and that affects the prices, more to the point for the op if the car is really good and priced a bit more than others for that it will sell to a clued up buyer it just may take longer to find that buyer.
