Having filmed many of the cars at this years Rally GB, the Subaru was lardy, slow and nowhere near the modern crop that are competing.
Subaru have a heritage but are distant memory in the top class upper echelons of motorsport. A real shame.

David Higgins is the current North America rally champion and has been since 2011, driving a Subaru. I was speaking to David on Sat and he was saying that, as stated in the video, his championship winning car was not eligible for Rally GB hence the requirement to use a Group N car.

A Group N car is never going to get near the top drivers in the World cars and you may consider the car "lardy and slow" however to get into the top 20 with basically a standard production car is a testament to David's skill as a driver and also the performance and reliability of the Subaru

Here here...

To think they were competing to win the rally is missing the point!

I never said they were but you also miss the point. WRC is what made Subaru. They no longer compete at the highest echelon are very unlikely to do so again. It was hardly a standard production car either.
