My car will be going for its 1st 1000 mile service (MY00) this Saturday.

How much should I expect to pay for this? Hope I don't need to break the bank.....

Anything between £90 and £150 depending on dealer, shop around.

It should only be an oil change and a quick check over. A year or so ago, mine was just over 35 quid. The service takes from 1/2 to an hour.

The dealers usually recommend semi synth (shell Helix) for the first change and fully synth(mobil 1) for subsequent ones.

Wink

If your car is a uk supplied one then it wont cost you a penny but if its a euro import your looking at 100quid, reccommend you start to put fully synthetic oil in from now, the shell helix 5w30 is what the dealer puts in, then i went up to 5w40 for the 6month service now on 15w50 mobil1 motorsport and shes running like a dream

Took mine in last week, cost me £38 (parts only). Just did an oil change and gave it a check over, took 1 hour.

Cool

It won't be totally free as if you read your service manual you will see that you will be charged for parts although the labour is free. It should cost you under £40.

Picked up my MY01 Sport Wagon yesterday... Yesssssssss !!

Garage says it's a free service .

What oil should I use ? Brand, grade, etc ? (I don't know anything about oil, therefore, talk to me like if I was 6 years old ). Mobil 1 seems to be a wide spread choice... Can anybody explain the xxWyy stuff ?

I'm asking because Portuguese amateurship might take over, and someone there might think: Why should I put expensive oil if oil is all the same ? If I TELL them what to put in, they will (I hope).

Thanks
