Default V6 WRX RA

Does anyone here own one of these?

I know there's a big difference between uk and jdm cars but wondering how different this feels to a uk turbo 2000 of the same year.

Worlds apart, they come with 276bhp standard and a short ratio box

Completely different cars as said, gearing is very short and if you do any motorway driving you will hate it, i drove mine from london when i picked it up to scotland and had to stop about 12 times i hated it and ended up putting a 6 speed box in it. Great for a and b roads though suspension very stiff on them compared to a uk too and much less sound proofing so cabin quite noisy. Great cars though if you like a proper drivers car and can live with it as a daily.

You wont go wrong with Max from hurst cars either ive had my last 2 cars from him and very good guy to deal with, cars are of good quality.

I had a UK turbo and a V6 WRX RA - both mapped. The UK turbo had a TD04 and the RA has a VF29 (AFAIK)

The RA was a fair bit faster as you would expect given the different turbos but I found the low ratio box a chore on anything other than short journeys.

The RA I would have for sure as a toy but for day to day, I'd go with the UK car. Or the UK gearbox with a VF29.

Cheers guys.

The reason I ask is I'm not too sure what to do with mine. I have a Turbo 2000 that I picked up last year. Not really used it since buying it, and now I need to decide whether I:

a) enjoy the car for what it is and spend minimal money on it
b) get the car how I want it (keeping it standard) but getting Cambelt and major service performed, new tyres and the bodywork / rust looking at, or
c) sell the Turbo 2000 and spend a (fair) bit more money on getting a nicer higher specced model

Either way, I'm not looking to modify it. It'd also be a weekend toy

Second what Jay said... I use my JDM STI as an everyday and can't wait to get a lockup so I can drive something more comfortable/less noisy (and more fuel efficient but besides the point)!
However that said again I agree on A roads there is no feeling quite like it. The stiff suspension and beautiful bwaaaar on a sunny day is something else.

So it just depends whether u want an everyday or a summer weekend special.

imo obviously

I had a V3 WRX RA and loved it, all the way to Monaco, via The Ring, The Stelvio Pass, Lake Como and Reims on the way back.

Lightweight 1190kgs, VF22, no rear spoiler, no-ABS, electric windows or mirrors, spoiler or rear wiper.

You would struggle as an every day car but boy are they fun. Non of the extras associated with an RA STi and the real essence of the Impreza. These were not popular for many years but look out now for prices.
