Time for something new....... any ideas?
So, I'm hopefully going to be in a position shortly where I can sell my Octavia vrs and buy something far less practical, but way more fun. I've spent weeks and weeks looking at all the different options but keep on coming back to the Impreza. I've had a couple in the past, the last one being a Hawkeye Sti Type UK with a few decent mods.
This time however, I want to do it properly and get a Jdm model, and something a little special, not the bog standard car. I only do 4k a year as this will be a second car so running costs aren't really an issue.
I don't want something too old so ideally a newage. I had a look at an S202 the other day and really liked it, despite not having much fondness for the bugeye. At the moment though, I really like the look of a Hawkeye Spec C Type RA that I've seen. Unfortunately, most of the decent cars are way to far away to just go and look at and I'd be taking a bit of a punt/shot in the dark.
I was after opinions of these 'special' Imprezas and how they compare to what I've already had.
To throw a spanner in the works, I've just also started looking at Evo's, specifically the 8 and 9s Fq 320/340 variations. I've never even sat in one of these, but yet again, there are none nearby to check out. I appreciate the running costs are higher with 2 services a year and slightly less mpg, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Has anyone driven both the Spec C etc and Evo's mentioned, how do they compare.
I'd appreciate any useful advice as my car will be advertised tomorrow and I might need to but pretty quickly.
Many thanks.

I'm kinda in the same situation,
looking for another Scooby myself too and looking at evo x aswell. From what I have gathered is scoobys have more character (sounds, looks, better daily ) however the evo offers more outright performance correct me if I'm wrong.
Evo 9 are supposed to be difficult daily driver's due to a heavy clutch and interior can feel a bit bland.
Depends what you prefer overall.

Forgot to say didn't I, it won't be used as a daily, and would be hoping to do some track days at some point too.
I've read the same too about the Evo having more performance but the Impreza has a little more character. The issue I have is that everything is just too far away to check out.

i just sold my 500+ bhp evo 7.amazing powerful car but very hard to live with as a daily.however as a weekend toy it would be perfect except the small fuel tank.back in a widetrack sti now running 400bhp and its much easier to live with,a lot more comftable and has the soundtrack i missed, and yes more character then the evo.drive both and go from there.evo's are very capable cars so dont be put off by the haters.

I looked at this one a while back and nearly travelled to see it.
Subaru Impreza JDM WRX STI SPEC-C TYPE 20 £21,995 (Williams Motor co). I think it has not moved as overpriced? as it looks clean but been with them now for over a year. I did not travel to see it as they were giving me a poor price for my trade in against it.

OP - if it's any help, I ran a well-fettled Blob for 5 years, and now run a Hawk Spec C RA. While my Blob had more power, the difference between the two is night and day. The Spec C is far more agile and capable, with great steering feedback. It's also quite a lot rawer but not unduly so IMHO. I did a return trip to Peterborough in the Spec C last week (410 miles) and found the Spec C adequately comfortable - mind you I do run a quiet exhaust.

heavy clutch, aftermarket coilovers which were solid.500+bhp with uprated cams which gives a kind of lumpy tickover, which was no good around towns or low speeds.this was a tuned evo tho.a standard example would be perfectly suitable.just my opinion on my evo.

RS4 is a penalty point grabber , it has no sensation of the speed it's up to.
How many evo's have you had fawor?...I've personally had most variations from the 5 to the 9 and for what they are they do a good job £ v power.

Last summer I test drove an RS4 as I was considering buying one. Never before have I been so dissapointed in a car. No sense of speed whatsoever.
