Hi all,

I used to own a Bugeye WRX a few years ago and had to sell it to make way for a more economical car for work purposes. Out of the 20+ cars I've owned I have to say it was the only one that I was gutted to sell as it was everything I love in a car.

So anyway, a few years on and I have acquired a wife and two children and a stable lifestyle and I have decided that I want to get back to Subaru ownership especially as modern cars just do not give me what I want which is a weekend car that I can take to Nurburg a couple of times per year. I have thought about various different cars such as a Honda Integra or S2000 but the Impreza is still the one that I want.

So I've set a rough budget of about £8k which I'll be happy with and I will be doing a lot of research about the different models before I decide exactly what I want both now and long term with a view to modifications (if any). I still love the Bugeye closely followed by the Blobeye but I'll take into consideration condition and mileage over headlight design.

I hope you all won't mind if I post a link or two now and again asking for advice on vehicles and who is selling them (I've heard about a certain company to avoid)?

Well I will admit that refinement is not really high on the list. Do you have something in mind?

My thoughts are going for a Bugeye STi at the moment.

You have a sensible budget.

Personally i'd be aiming my attention at a JDM model blob for that model. Yes i am biased but i've owned both.

There are a lot of good people (And a lot of bad) who will steer you in the right direction and also some very nice cars.

My advice to you for now would be to go out there and test drive as many cars as possible.

You're not too far from Torque GT Exeter, Performance Point in Bristol nor Hurst Cars. All three companies have been in the business for a long time.

Thanks for the reply and advice, I will certainly get in touch with those places you've suggested. After looking at some of what's out there I've noticed prices have certainly shot up lately.

If your not bothered about refinement then classic type R (2 door) or RA is the one you want.
