Default not enjoying my car

don't know what it is but I'm just not enjoying my current car as much as I thought I would, driving it just isn't as much fun as my previous ones.. when I owned my previous v2 STi Type ra I couldn't wait to drive it, I really enjoyed owning it but I don't feel the same with my current blob sti. anyone else get like this?

What don't you enjoy about it?

Too slow?
Too quiet?

It's never going to feel as raw as a classic STi, I liked my Blob WRX, loved my Hawk STi too, even know it was bloody horrible on long journeys.

cant put my finger on it...its running 330bhp and sounds pretty well (cobra exhaust) but I'm just not enjoying it.. my classic ra was a different car altogether even in standard form. not sure if ive just lost interest in it. wether its because its blue and ive always had white ones I just don't look at it the same way, sounds daft that a colour can determine a love hate relationship but.... like I said all my others I really enjoyed, this one for some reason I can fall in love with.

Do see your point about the colour, I'm not a great fan of blue as it's simply too common.

I just came from an MR2 turbo and I love it, however I do feel like you'll never beat that 90's car feel. Fortunately, the 2 didn't have 300+bhp like some STis, but it felt a lot more mechanical. But, as long as I have a cable throttle and hydraulic steering, I'm happy.

What suspension mods do you have? Standard suspension? I would upgrade the anti-roll bars etc.

Felt exactly the same about my 05 STI Prodrive... couldn't quite go as far as to describe it as boring, but it was certainly a rather uninvolving driving experience.

I think it's just where it's hard to reach the limit on these cars, you're miles away from having to really try to keep it on the road. It's nice in a sense that you can take corners fast without having to try.

But, Prodrive, a map, upgraded suspension and Bridgestone RE070's and they're awesome. Will always enjoy it.

Are you sure you're not 'chasing the dragon'?

A classic STI RA is a different machine to a blob STI, different handling, harder ride, more of a 'raw' feeling. Performance could be similar between the 2, but your head says the RA was better

A mate had a 352bhp classic STI and my blob wrx was 330bhp. I wasn't slower than him, he just seemed to be changing gear all the time. He was gutted and sold his classic and bought a newage wrx and modified it to 340bhp. He's running a hawk STI now

also, I drove his classic sti, it felt really fast, but when I was watching the speedo it was moving at the same rate as mine, I was just changing gear a lot more often

A newage is a lot easier to take to the limits without much effort so you don't feel kind of scared doing it, it will let you push without killing yourself.
However a classic RA or R is as said above more raw and when you push it, you have to have more concentration going on as if not you can kill yourselfs in a flash, when on the limit it feels like the car could potentially kill you if you're not on point.
And when driving it that's where you get the buzz from IMO.

That's the difference in the 2 IMO.

I came from an 94 MR2 as well! Too rear end happy for me though...I love the planted feeling of the Scooby literally point and squirt and goes like hell
