2005 Blobeye cambelt change cost?
Looking at a 2005 Blobeye Impreza WRX, can someone tell me the approximate cost of replacing the cambelt?
Full dealer service history but it's got to be done within the next 12 months.
Thanks.

Price for a Continental timing belt kit from Euro Car Parts is £285 so if I needed one of these i'd be interested in doing the job myself:

Like I said is this something a competent DIY mechanic could do on the Subaru engine? Or do you need some special tool that is unrealistically expensive?

I'd always go genuine Subaru parts for something as critical as a timing belt. Gates belts are supposed to be very good and if I had to I'd certainly have this kit over the continental version.
I'm sure it's a job you can do at home. You'll probably need the correct cam locking tool, but otherwise it's possible. It can be done with the radiator still fitted but is much easier to remove it.

Once again thanks for the advice

Done mine twice, if you're handy with spanners which it sounds like you are it's a pretty easy job. Budget in a coolant change at the same time if you're doing the pump obviously, and take the Rad out as it gives you loads more room to work.

ScottyPPP, are there any Subaru groups in the Hants/Dorset area you know of?

I'm pretty sure that it's been said on here that Gates make most timing belts, they just have different names printed on them and some like the Cosworth ones are just made from different materials.
But there's no major rush as Subarus aren't known for chewing through timing belts.
