I bought a load at 1 point. Had 16 in total.
Sold to a load of big companies like RCM, lateral and RA motorsport.
This was 7 or years ago when they were £100-£200.
Never managed anything so lucrative since.
Tbh you don't need a CDB unless going 500bhp plus

My plan is a 550 bhp build so closed deck block is were I'm at just now I was originally going to buy a car first but decided to get the parts sorted and look for a type r to fit my build into. A 2.1 engine with 6 speed sti conversion going for 550 bhp that's my plan should make for a quick car on the track

We're happy to use an open deck block at around 400 bhp. A semi closed is good for 500 and a closed deck above that, given the option.
Having said that, this is a wish list. We've seen an open deck block run for years at 520 bhp before it started leaking a bit..
In all honesty, you can't beat a closed deck block, so why Subaru decided to deprive us of them I don't know, unless it was to save a bit of cash.
Let's face it, they don't want the likes of us messing about with them, do they?

And at what power can you run these two options ?

I've never liked the look of pinning, sleeving just introduces another host of failure points. We often have the top deck plates done on 2.5 blocks, no regrets there so far.

You Need to speak Alyn up at AS Performance about the closed deck inserts, he's been doing them for years and are tried and tested, a lot of the 2.5 boys use them.
He also does it for the normal 2.0L blocks.
A good option in my eyes, especially if you know your ODB is a good one, I'd rather have an insert put into my good ODB rather than take on an unknown quantity CDB.

Im not 100% sure on the exact process different companies use butmy understanding is the block is machined to suit then the insert is pressed in, then the face machined flat.

yes you would end up with the same end results with either hence get a odb as they are cheaper
