Out of interest, why would you want such a thing anyway?

Taken from another forum, I agree they are quite restrictive.

Bear in mind that driving on the road with a tight (proper) fitting harness can be a right PITA. If not dangerous!

I bought a mx5 once with bucket seats and harnesses fitted........

Tightened them properly........ Came up to join a very large busy roundabout to turn left

Creeping forwards at an angle (imagine the road bending around to turn left) and I physically wasn't able to turn my head far enough to the right to see what was coming - the hood was up (it was raining promise) and I needed to lean forward a little but couldn't.

I literally had to release the straps in order to see that it was safe to pull out :-(

I then had to try and put it all on again (6 point) whilst trying to join a motorway! Bloody nightmare.

I took them straight off when I got home and only put them back on for track days.

The reason Urban is the car is only ever goin to be used on track for the remainder of its life from now / however the odd summer wknd blast up 2 the lakes will prob happen . So in theory I'm going to need something that is road legal . I know they are restrictive in terms of head movement etc , but that's the trade off I guess .

4 points worn correctly like tight, are restrictive as your shoulders are held in to the seat, try sitting in your car and look towards your 'blind' spots left and right without moving your shoulders off the seat, it's possible but a bit of a pain. Also reaching heating/aircon and other controls is almost impossible (depending on seat position)

The only difference between 4 and 5/6 point harnesses is the straps around your bo//ock region

So to summarise, Track/Rally car = yes
Road Car every day use = no thank you

You don't want to be going on a track with a 4 point harness mate
What are you mounting the harness to?
Are you using fixed back bucket seats?

It would be pointless fitting an unsuitable harness to an unsuitable seat and then not mounting it correctly. If anything it will be a step backwards from a standard seatbelt setup and compromise safety

Thanks for the input tho lol

I've got a harness bar and harnesses fitted but dont use them on the road as you can't turn around to see behind you for a start, mine are only ever used for a bit of sprinting now and then...hence I have seatbelts still fitted too
