A long standing member of near 10 years. This is a new profile.
I have witnessed the desirability of Impreza peak and slowly fall into the dirty hands of the council estate wannabe.
This group is of that description.
It's a crying wrong of how this 'group' has slowly manifested and digested the once respected South East Impreza owners groups.
Said Essex page on the very Scoobynet we frequent is a victim of this.
The mighty ESC Tunnel Run, owners days, the monthly Essex meet - now belong to the youscoob generation.
And it's a crying shame

Couldn't agree more, my family were members of the original Kent Scoobies and are still in touch with many of the others who no longer own scoobs, the whole feel of the community has changed, we would never have met in McDonald's or KFC, maybe pop into one after a tunnel run but not held a meet there.
We attended Japday yesterday and whilst we had an amazing day we all come back high, literally, usually days like this you smell burning rubber not grass
A few of the old KS lot still met up a few times of the year at the wharf for a catch up, this Friday being one of those times. Hopefully the Facebook groups will die out and stop giving the rest of us a hard time and bad name.

I do appreciate every individual has the right to enjoy ownership of an Impreza and many do come in many shapes, sizes, colours, cultural background etc, but there is a defined way to devalue the product by going so OTT with cheap, tacky and classless alterations to the car.
Does your car need rally rep stickers? A flame kit? Neon lights? A wally behind the wheel, thinking his 'Scooby' has 450 'break" on a standard engine?
Give me strength.
Unfortunately I see no end in sight of the group dieing out, being proactive to recruit new members is their weapon of choice.
Have any Subaru in the South East? Prepare to have a credit card sized Youscoob calling card wedged in between wiper and windscreen by some ham fisted 'youscoober', aka a tit.

You're fighting a losing battle.
Actually the battle is lost.
Just let them ruin the ones left and they will become desirable again and out of the chavs reach.
The problem with Facebook pages is they are moderated by the chavs that run it so if you disagree with anything they think you get banned.
Sioc is a prime example worship that vader creation or get banned.
This was also I guess how that clown Rotherham scoobies became an sioc God, ban anyone with any knowledge then nobody can argue.
I and many others pointed out Tony houghs advice was wrong and was greeted with a ban.
So let the idiots continue to pay the clown to ruin their cars.

I just don't get it. A chavvy car is a chavvy car , wether its a Subaru or a Saxo , if it's been stickered up or silly spoilers it'll be considered silly looking . The facebook groups capture many more people than a forum would so you see more of the chavvy ones on there , and more people (that probably wouldn't know what a forum is) that aren't fimiliar with what a nice one looks like just assumes they are all chavvy. Surely it's up to the people that have nice ones to outweigh the crap ones , but in all honesty there will always be more crap ones as it eaiser and cheaper to do tacky stuff to "make the car your own". Not everyone can spend thousands modifying cars.
In saying that , the 1st Subaru in my life was my brothers 100% standard Prodrive Bugeye (i ended up buying it off him) and everyone who wasn't a car person said it was chavvy , and that was about 6/7 years ago. Any loud , lairy , fast car will be assumed to be a boy racer. Add a few tacky mods and it's quite easy to make their minds up for them. Don't think it's exclusive to Subaru.

It's not exclusive to subaru the difference is now the WRX and low end models are cheap the chavs buy them and because of lack of finance, skills and intelligence they ruin then with tack on cheap crap to make them "indivijewal"

I've been banned from YouScoob too after I had the cheek to question someone's statement lol.
It's full of Chavs that think after owning an impreza for 5 minutes know it all and think that all of a sudden have the driving talent of Colin McRae.
I used to love to do the Essex Tunnel Run but now it's just a massive chav fest and won't risk having my Spec C being hit by one of those talentless pr!cks.
Personally I feel they have given the Impreza a bad name in the general publics eye. Anyone who sees an impreza on the road or gets overtaken by own immediately thinks Chav.

First tunnel run I found was an excellent night, well behaved, well organised and was ... 8 years ago.
I completed the 2014 run, very different feel, many more 'low' budget, poor maintained, entry level cars. I applaud their attempts at charity raising but stopping half way in the middle of London for 'raffles'...

I'm only on it because of the stuff for sale.
Trying to decipher members use of the English language is borderline impossible most of the time. Entire segments of text written in text speak or whole paragraphs with no commas, full stops etc......dear god.

Thank you buddy.
The arranging of these competition, raffles, give away what ever you want to call them detracted from the whole evening.
I think we parked by the London Eye, police watching the time we were there, for approximately 2 hours. Bizarre situation I found, then on the next few days it was apparent it had become a Youscoob event not an ESC regardless of a posting on the page.
People dressed in Hanna Barbara Scooby Doo outfits with young children roughly under 5 in Scrappy Doo costumes, an aggressive and untidy woman with a lovely arm sleeve tattoo - buckets in both hands almost demanding our loose change for the nominated charity.
This is not classic ownership is about.
