Default BTCC Subarus win at Oulton Park

The BMR Subaru racing team came 1st and 3rd at Oulton with Colin Turkington (1st) and Jason Plato driving. Pretty good results for the 'slightly' modified Levorgs!

The new Levorg model will feature the Subaru Boxer engine, which will be developed and built as a two-litre, direct injection, turbocharged engine.

Yes that's why they made it to the end if they had the 2 5 the hg would of failed and they would have blamed Plato for fitting the wrong air filter and rejected the warranty claim.

So are all fa20 h4 engines direct injection or just the btcc cars?

These cars are impressive considering the rather average vehicle on which they're based. Is this an opportunity for Subaru to produce a sporty road going version? Recent history would suggest not but who knows?

Yes, with a cack cvt type auto box. And all for just under the price of a new WRX STI.

Levorg, though? What does it mean? Do they not KNOW it's "Grovel" in reverse?

Good observation! After the follow on success of Subaru rally cars you would think Subaru would get behind this and launch a competitive road car. But perhaps not.

Is it irony or have I missed something ??

The JDM 2.0L DIT engine puts out 300ps but unfortunately only with the CVT box and unlikely to make the UK or Europe

No irony intended, but this fine looking car is compromised with its gearbox and won't be coming to the UK anyway.

Subaru have managed to squander all the goodwill they built up following their rally successes, with subsequent poor design and dodgy engines, and they seem to determined not to attempt to redress the balance.

Prodrift UK have already imported and sold a 2.0l TS 300ps Levorg.

That's a start I suppose and back in the day it's how Impreza Sti models first made their way to the UK, as grey imports. Probably take Subaru a few years to get the hint though.

Are most of the BTCC cars not the same under the skin with the new regs? To drive costs down.

Does Subaru run its own flat 4 power plant or share an in-line 4 with the others?

No. I believe they did use same engine but the rules change allows use of own engine. Subaru uses boxer engine developed by mountune.

Never gonna happen any time soon.

Subaru UK's current marketing is firmly based on the SUV's/Xovers
1 Forester

2 Outback

3 XV

4 the also rans

Perhaps Subaru simply wish to disassociate themselves from the debatable publicity that they earned from the various Impreza models, by not appealing to the young sporty driver. The chavvy image is probably not something they celebrate I'm sure! Even the BRZ, a sports car in appearance, is apparently a bit of a dud with little driver appeal. So dull rules!
