Question

Hi folks,

The wife is at the "we need a new/bigger car" lark again, so I'm starting to think about replacing my 4dr Impreza turbo with a used Legacy GTB. Insurance is a big factor when buying a car these days... can anyone give me a rough idea of how the premium for a GTB would compare with a UK Impreza turbo?

Some background...
Current car is UK MY98 4dr turbo, some mild mods (all covered under the standard premium), location is near Edinburgh, age is 35, currently insured through Catterall.

Cheers,
ColinU.

P.S.
Sorry if I've posted in the wrong forum - the Grey Insurance one only seemed to be for posting info rather than questions.

P.P.S.
I must stop my wife thinking that the BMW 520i touring is a car to seriously consider!!!

I paid £990 earlier this year, 24, 1 yrs NCD, parents paid £600. No security on either of them.

Most people I've spoken to said about £600-£700.

Quick cars for the size, great fun a real Q car. Drop me a mail if you more info.

Thumbs up

What a fantastic choice of car. I drive a 98 GTB in standard trim, age 31 full no claims and live in London. Quotes ranged from £1,900 from some of the main stream insurers who obviously didn't want my business down to £840 from a specialist broker. (email me and I'll send you their details.

Colin,

I work in Edinburgh and drive a '96 Legacy RS-B (saloon version of the GT-B). Self (48) and wife (>25 ), full NCD, no points or convictions, £623 through Bennetts Elite (underwritten by Norwich Union).

Could be the best decision you make this year

I must admit, I'm quite tempted by a Legacy Blitzen. Much more fun than a beemer for 27k.
