Default maff problem

Hi I'm a newbie just need some advice... I've a subaru impreza turbo 2000 classic year of make 2000 modified and remapped... Just recently my engine light started to flash.. Found out it was the maff air flow sensor... It was a genuine one and I replaced it with an aftermarket 1... the engine light went off but it's running worse then b4.. Revs going up and down on their own upto 3000 Revs.. It does say on the instructions of the aftermarket sensor that u have to do 30 miles + for the sensor to adjust and give right reading..
Is this right? Or should I have got a genuine subaru sensor cause of modifications and remapping.... Would appreciate some advice thanks

Yes
A different sensor will need rescaling and a cheap non genuine will probably cost you a rebuild.
Buy the proper sensor and it's a straight swap

The sensor I bought was the same spec part number. And it was 70 pounds there were some for 17 pounds on eBay... So I'll order a genuine subaru maff sensor hopefully dat will rectify it thanks.. Y would u say engine rebuild... If these aftermarke sensors done dat they all would b out of bissness

Your ECU will also have learned fuel trim compensations, based on the old, bad MAF. It will almost certainly benefit from being reset, so it can start learning new trims for the new MAF.

Read the 'Classic (JECS) ECU Reset' procedure here:
http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...ledge/ECUReset

That's what I'd try next before spending out on a new, genuine MAF, assuming the new one you ordered is the correct one for your car.

my uk w plate ate three mafs in nearly as many months, was running oiled air filter, people kept saying this may be the problem..mine where genuine items from subaru aswell, ended up going mafless with aftermarket ecu, expensive but no more CEL light....and great if your planning on further modding the car.
