Well, Ive owned 2 x UK hawk STi's, one modified and one totally standard, a standard P1, a non-widetrack modified JDM STi blob and my current blob widetrack Spec C Type RA.
I happen to agree with you on the sound front, I also love the UK burble and it's the only thing the JDM is missing, all IMO of course. Sound aside, the JDM is technically a considerably better car. I can't really comment on a standard Spec C, but the difference between my normal JDM STi and my Spec C Type RA is night and day. The Spec C is incredibly focused and driver-orientated, you notice it as soon as you start driving it. When I compare my UK Imprezas to the Spec C, you REALLY notice the difference! My Hawks (not so much the P1) both felt very muted in terms of feedback against the Spec C. For me, the quicker steering rack on the JDM is a big trump card!
Not really different to any other spec c, it's a widetrack with different seats, yellow stickers and a badge on the back, very reminiscent of the WRX300 visually but with spec c performance
ive just been to look at one but from what I was told I'm a little put off. he says there is no point in buying it as a daily user, it will only do around 10mpg due to how these cars are set up. its running approx. 330bhp. my old blob sti uk was running same power as that but was much heavier yet I got double the mpg than what he says the spec c gets.
lol 10 mpg... if it's within your 9k budget I would suggest it's not the best example
the car its self looks mint, usual stone chips but very clean bodily and underneath. 2 owners, fsh 50000miles. belts done, full 3" exhaust with map.
didn't get chance to go out in it though as it had semi slicks on it and it was pissing down. he wouldn't go out in the wet with it anyway, even with normal tyres fitted.
just couldn't get my head round the 10mpg comment and daily driver car.
10 mpg is complete nonsense unless caning it everywhere or it's unhealthy. Twin scroll cars are naturally a bit thirstier than single scroll as the turbo is more active at lower revs, but 18-20 should be achievable in normal driving.
I would add however that you've got to be very committed to consider a Spec C as a daily driver - it's very raw and the usable range is low given the smaller tank.
Semi Slicks lol, I run these on my daily wind rain or shine, sounds like a donut
Did he put the price up when you got there ?
he said a price which I said I couldn't match, I told him what I had and he said to come and have a look. once I was there he put it back to the original price and said it was me that said the lower not him.

I've got a high powered classic that will probably only hit single figure mpg on a track, has semi slicks and goes out in any weather. I think you dodged a bullet there lol
Just pointing out that it's a pretty raw car to be commuting in. I personally wouldn't use any Scoob for a daily unless I absolutely was forced to have one car only.
Used to use mine every day for work Only changed to a vRS as the mileage increased Fully track ready solid bushes the lot, nice wake up on a tired morning
whatever impreza I get will be used as my daily, not bothered about the comfort side of it really. just baffled me when I was told about the 10mpg. it was as if he was trying to put me off from the start.
