What do you pay to insure your cars and who with?

Im 22, 4 yrs NCB, No points and just got quoted £1800 full comp (£600 excess) on a 2000 STI6 Type R V-limited valued at £17500.

I feel this is fairly good - will I get it any cheaper elsewhere?

Thumbs up

Sounds about right

Tesco and Privilege tend to be good for young people.

Tescos seem to be the best, I needed a 24hour tracker though, aswell as CAT alarm and imob.

Jeeeeesssssuuussss,
I know both are good cars, but how can you stomach paying
2 grand to insure a car. I'm nearly 30 and I really grudge
paying 950 for my STi. Think it pisses me off beacause when
I was 17 I paid 300 pounds fully comp any driver, for a Golf
GTI.

10 years driving without a claim or conviction in a friendly
postcode and they are still charging me ridiculous money to
insure a car.
Insurance companies are a bunch of robbing Barstewards.
RANT over

Dougie.

ps sorry to hijack the thread but btt

Not bad Chris, I was enquiring about a P1 but the prat on the other end of the phone said it would cost exactly the same to insure as an STi6 type r v-limited!
I would have expected the P1 to be a bit cheaper as its not an import!?!?!

Smell something funny on this post.

I'm 29, full NCB, 3 points and pay 1100 with Tesco (tracker fitted)to insure Version 5 Type R.

C - 23, only 3 yrs NCB and can insure modded P1 for 1200???????????? WITH 3 points! You must know someone i don't!

Lucky to get my XR2 insured for that when i was 23!

Sigh.....

Mine is 1450ish, MY97 Catalunya, no mods declared (well it had wheels, spoiler headlights etc when it left the factory, it's still got those things now), 3 years NCB and 3 points for SP30. I'm 23 BTW.

I was paying £274 third party fire and theft on a Fiat 132 (2l twin over head cam, twin choke webbers and lots of rust) At the time I was earning £3,724 gross but we paid more tax then. (1986)

Tesco is the cheapest for me, £850 fully comp(protected) for a MY97 Uk turbo, prodrive performance pack, scorpion exhaust.
I`m 24, 5yrs no claims, no points. Is cheaper to have the wife as a named driver too (why???????)
Tesco do require at least a tracker monitor fitted though.

Looking at this I was ripped off by Insurance Xpress - £1800 for a standard 96MY Turbo 5dr, limited mileage (10,000). I am 23 with 5 years no claims!!!

Tesco, Privelege and Direct Line are all underwritten by the same company, try the Insurance thread for full details of companies.
PS Greenlight was cheaper than DL, no paying to protect the NCB and v mod friendly
