Pick up my new wrx sti last night. has 300 miles on it .
Dealer said to not take it over 4 k revs till its over 1k miles . As an ex demo model I'm sure it's already gone over that.
Apart from that really happy with the car. come from an Astra VXR new shape what a difference it already is so much better. apart from the fuel economy lol

The only other thing I can think of is oil changes other than the run in service. Although that might apply to forged built motors due to spec. I'm sure someone will be on but the way Subarus are would do it and then get it mapped lol

It's under warrantee, right? Consult manual, stay within the guidelines (if any!) and enjoy. Change the oil at 1000 miles, which may just be a courtesy these days.

You'd be surprise mate going against the manufacturer can be better. Take some of the 2.5s they hated the original map. It was recommended to get them remapped and even Subaru offered a new flash. It just depends.

I agree, better running at 3500rpm, half throttle than 2000rpm full throttle, ie "foot to floor", ie when going up a hill,... under load, etc......ie don't stress it, use the correct octane petrol, if you have a "boost" gauge, try to keep it near "0", then increase the boost as miles go up.

I've just built a forged and pinned 2.5, all new crank, pistons rings with an overbore.
Cost was reasonably big.
I did annoul change 5 mins after the first start then one at 100 miles then another at 1000.
It never got ran in, just driven/mapped full power as soon as it was warm.
What moving friction parts are we running in here?

An engine running at 2700 rpm (60 mph ish) for 200 miles (about a tank full in a scoob) will have rubbed the rings 1,080,000 times. That's over one million times.
