I got the motor on the dyno today to finally see what numbers the car was making, decide whether or not to fit the decat downpipe that I have etc etc......also next year this car will be Her indoors daily so TBH there's no point getting many more bhp out of it.
With all that being said I know there's no need to get strung up on numbers, it's all about how well the car drives and how well it pulls and TBH the car pulls really well.....but that's made me think the numbers would be decent. I had heard the PPP map was suppose to be roughly 1.1 bar and 265bhp but that number was optimistic, and my motor has had a subsequent map taking the boost to 1.4bar(prosport gauge) so I was thinking worse case scenario - 265bhp.
But **** me in the farter......it only made 246 bhp,244 bhp average over the 3 runs but we'll go with 246 bhp because it sounds better
Plus it's boosting to 1.3 bar so gauge is slightly out but I knew that was a possibility
Anyway......what the actual ****?? Serious question!!
Spec is
PPP package which I know for a fact is
Decat midpipe
Prodrive backbox
Prodrive Y pipe
Not sure about fuel pump and injectors
Mapped to 1.3 bar but runs sweet.
I'm now thinking I'd be as well fitting the decat downpipe to quicken the spool time even more, whether that'll produce more bhp I'm not sure, I could get a decat upppipe whilst I'm at it to improve it even more then mapped.....sounds like a plan??
Even though the motor pulls well I'm now thinking how good it would feel if it were making 260-270 ish like some other motors that I've seen posted on here on the std td04.

What car is it?
Guessing the TD04 on a standard 2.0 will be running out puff with the best possible supporting set up at sub 300bhp, although I have heard folk claiming more in the past!
Don't worry about the numbers at that level seriously, it's not worth the headache. Unsure what car you have, guessing an early new age WRX, I'd suggest just leaving it as you are, as once you get to the limit of that turbo you'll be looking at moving up to something bigger, and it never ends. The core model is wrong for the long game and it'll lead to a very expensive cheap car.

TD04 on an OE WRX produces 218bhp at 0.9 Bar standard boos so how did you think that you would get 47bhp from running 0,2 Bar more boost??
Anyway BHP has less to do with boost and more to do with ignition advance so if you are running a poorer quality fuel then your BHP figure will be low.
265bhp on a 2.0 with a TD04, she would need about 1.3Bar but as I say, you would need a good fuel.
Also, remember that PPP cars were meant to be run on Super Unleaded 97 RON fuel as a bare minimum.

Sorry guys I forgot to add.....it's a 2005 wagon.
As I said above I never expected an extra 47 bhp from running an extra 0.2 bar of boost.....I stated that I read that, and that others had said those figures were optimistic.

Or 250 bhp on a JDM Blob as standard.

Funny you say that because when I was in the motor for the 3rd run it said on the screen HP so I asked if it was at the wheels or fly....there might have been a bit on confusion maybe but I'll get the pics up shortly.

So essentially mine is now mapped @ 1.3 bar and producing **** all extra power well maybe an extra 10 ft-lb of torque.
Anyway I'll try the decat uppipe and downpipe and see how that goes.

Apparently this fella is good, around here there's 2 options or 2 guys that have been mentioned. Him and Andy Forrest......but Andy is super busy and hard to get a hold of. Then there's RA Motorsport who now have Russ Paton working with them doing maps + Andy Forrest 2 days per month there so there is that option.

I had my bog standard, FSH (no expense spared) 05 blob wrx on the rollers before I did anything, 100k and it made 242bhp

It just shows how cars differ, people always think cars lose power with age, but its not always the case. Some cars just work better or worse with mileage/maintenance. Some engines just work better than others. Yours might have been 200bhp before you fitted the new parts, but it feels loads better and drives better with the new parts and map. So a 46bhp gain is good for those mods. You have no starting point to show the difference the mods have made
My previous 05 wrx only had 50k, it had a cat back, panel filter, walbro fuel pump, 3 port solonoid and a remap on rolling road, the best it could do was 263bhp. The diagnosis was a tired turbo.
I then fitted pink injectors, decat up and down pipes, a VF35 and a remap for 95ron fuel, it made 325bhp, the removed turbo had play in the shaft and had oil in the cool side, so diagnosis was correct
Don't get hung up on numbers, if it drives well be happy. Would you rather have 290bhp and be laggy up to 4,500rpm and drive like a pig at low revs?
