Saw that the US market can have the optional extra 6 pot Brembo caliper upgrade, quite like the fact that the road tax changes soon so after the first year you can tax these cars for £140 a year, so just hope that they bring a warranty tuning pack for some extra power from the dealer that can be more of a rival for the new Focus RS but all under £30k !!!

Above link is over a year old so out of date.

Probably when the new model (based on the new platform) arrives in 2020 (no doubt available mid 2019)

No, it comes into force for all new registered cars from April 1st 2017. But £140 is the second year rate.

EU Emission controls are what drives the engine selection. Power is not everything unless it's for ***** waving at your mates. There are far less powerful cars that clean up against much more powerful stuff. Factor in the fact that a WRX RA STi GC8 weighs in at 1200kg and a Blobeye STI Spec C is 1380kgs.

£1700 nuts. Can't see many 3rd party dealers wanting to bring those into the UK

Just paid my road licence fee for the next 12 months here in NZ. £50.00.

1st year of registration. So if a dealer becomes the 1st registered user, i.e they keep hold of it as a demo, you are laughing. If not and you buy it brand spanking new, it's a £1700 bill

And that's prob equivalent to year-1 depreciation, too.

Whatever, if you buy a year old demo car, instead (if you can find one 'in spec'), then you're effectively £1,700 (less year-2's tax) in pocket, driving off the forecourt (IYSWIM).
