Question MK1 Type 25's forged or not?

Hi all,

I've been finding it difficult sourcing information about the MK1 Type 25 STi's in particular the 2005 models and wondered if anyone had any more information about them?

I've heard mixed things about them having forged engines and others saying that they came with the standard 2.5 lump causing the engines to let go?

If anyone has a spec list or something similar about the mk1 Type 25's it would be much appreciated.

Kindest Regards,

Subaru Collector 555.

the pistons in my book being the main thing re forged most other parts are fine as standard , crank bearings are important plus arp bolts or similar

Agree got 11mm head studs on mine, runs 358/390 in standard form, my T25 started out as a Spec C limited.

I don't imagine any T25 is still on its original internals. Mine certainly has Cosworth pistons and head studs.

On the ones I rebuilt for Litchfield's they were based on USDM spec 2.5 short motors, & did not have forged pistons fitted, that said, the rebuilt ones had Mahle forged pistons fitted, Cosworth rods etc.

As already stated, I very much doubt any are on there original internals.

Seeing that thread again brings back some memories! I had no intention of buying a T25 and only went to Litchfield's to compare a Spec C against a standard GL. My problem was the only GL he had was a T25, and the rest is history.

No thoughts of selling and getting something different?

No idea what I'd replace it with, prefer driving my wife's C250 these days though.
