CAT D because of knocking engine
Just browsing and came across this. Knocking engine @12k but it's advertised as a cat D because of it which I thought was odd

Anyhow anyone looking to forge one of these may well be able to get it at a price to make it work.
Car in link has nothing to do with myself just thought it may be of interest to someone

To be a CAT D it must have a recorded claim against it. Its likely that its had a front/side impact, has had the body repaired then theyve found the engine damaged. I'd be thinking along those lines anyway.
If you do go and look at it check for signs of accident damage repair.

Have no personal interest in the car just thought it odd to be a cat D and as someone has mentioned surely the engine is under warranty although I think. It said sports exhaust and dump valve so I'd 8magine that's the warranty out the window

3 year warrenty. If it's an early 2014 then just be out and there's no guaranty subaru would do the engine under warrenty. That said if it was damaged by ingesting water or duff fuel then nothing to do with warrenty and could well be through insurance.
How much is a full engine swap from subaru? Isn't the cut off 60% of the value of the car now a days? Also don't forget insurance value will be book price which is prob into the teens. So if engine was 10k ( were talking dealer prices here) then insurance company may well write it off.

Not uncommon to write them off with engine damage, have a look on Copart every few weeks there are diesel Subaru's with the engine in bits in the back, all cat d registered, as already said claiming on water ingestion/ flood, on a knocking engine to cover it.
