Reasonable insurance quotes for JDM's?
Hi,
My first post for many years! Had my first Impreza in 2003 and owned 7 between then and 2010.
I now am looking at importing a nice JDM blob or hawkeye so calling around for insurance quotes - Unbelievable what I'm hearing, over £1500,and I'm 53 years old!
I used to pay between £550 and £750 a year, always from A Plan but even they don't speak JDM language these days - Apparently I have to have owned a car over 220bhp in the last 12 months to get a "discounted" quote!!
So please everyone, direct me to some normal insurance companies who will give me a decent quote on a JDM STi. (I did see on here about contacting Gary at Keith Michaels which I have already done so by email earlier today)
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Greg :-)

I am pretty sure I'll be able to help.
I don't tend to do many of the internet quotes via our website, but if you pm me your number I'll ring you on Tuesday (office is closed now until after bank holiday)

I don't want to sh*t on the guy, but if someone wanted to give me £500 for a simple phone call I'd bite their hand off!
Incidentally I get my insurance via Aviva on a multi car policy for just short of £450 for both cars. Never thought they'd insure me on an import but whilst waiting for Gary thought I'd give them a call and was totally surprised. Result.

In 11 years that Gary has been my broker, I think I've spoken to him on the phone maybe 3/4 times.
Quoted me happy again this year, down to £320 fully comp.

Well at 35 years old I have been refused a quote for the first time.
Called A Plan today for a quote on the Spec C. Never had the chance to tell them it was a Spec C. Seemed to focus more on what I had driven in the past. Very bizarre questions. Oh well. Will pm Moley.
