Default 2000 Subaru Legacy Outback Station Wagon - plastic front heat shield

Hi - I pulled into work today and the front heat shield is dragging on the ground. I drive approximately 100 miles a day for work in my trusty workhorse - not to mention all the running around I do at home with the kids (busy mom syndrome) I do keep it well maintained as far as oil changes, etc. Then there's this. Can i safely get around with it until I get a day off to take it to the mechanic? I have to drive in all sorts of weather and terrain for work. Thank you for any information you could provide.
