Default Speedo and Rev counter stopped work. Help

As above

2003 Impreza.

Was driving earlier today and the Speedo and Rev counter along with mileage just died then instantly came back to life.

went out just now and was driving. Same happened and it's not come back. The fuel and temp gauge and lights on the dash work just now Speedo or rev counter.

what could this be??

was supposed to be going a big run with it tomorrow.

thanks

It looks he tracks has burnt . If someone can take an identical picture of a good unit you may be able to solder a wire in to replace the burnt out track.

I've given it a clean with contact cleaner. No burnt smells or anything like that.

Can get a replacement set of STI clocks for £100.

Hoping this is the issue.

Looks like new clocks needed.

Nice to know why...and will it repeat itself when the new ones are in?

Well when I bought the car it had some faults with it.

1 being the kept blowing the headlight fuse on the drivers side, stereo not working.

Turned out to be an earth problem.

Will order new clocks today, will need to get the mileage corrected on them aswell.
