Moray,

thanks for clearing that up.
Still think the "blades" would act as a restriction though.

I totally agree that the effect should happen as soon as possible in the system.

Its actually trying to have the same effect as rifleing, although for different reasons obviously.

Hmm, can't see why this would work in this position. Surely airflow out of an exhaust will become turbulent very quickly, so adding something to create a vortex at this point will only make something incredibly short lived.

I can accept that the Twister could do something, but this seems a tad strange.

Still, I know nothing.

Looks like a patented BPM twister rip off to me.

I wonder if Greg at bpm will being initialting court proceedings!

Assuming he has an active patent in the states

Question

This interests me (anorak on!)

To force the blades round, you would in my opinion be creating more back pressure, the blades would surely spin faster with more pressure, slower with less.
So, surely the only time you would benefit would be when the system pressure was lower than that required to spin the blades as fast as they are currently going, and this would be when lifting off!?

or I have I missed something, and they are powered by some other means!?

Looks like a surefire way of cutting the power on your car.

On a different note, they also offer a similar way of strangling the inlet! But, does anyone know of a company that produces inlet guide vanes for turbos that fit a scooby?

cool! i like it Can't have one though why? won't fit over my Apex N1 backbox. If it did then it'd slice up people when they went near it! Hey, now that's an anti theft device!

Adam,

Did Greg ever give you the patent numbers you asked for, or are we still unsure as to the true legal status of BPMs Patent claim?

Robski,

The "blades" are fixed... they don't spin... the idea is that they force the exhaust gas into a "vortex" by spinning ~(twisting?) the gas as it passes them.

Personally, I suspect it won't do as much good as it would if the "blades" were further back inside the exhaust system... ala BPM's system, or so we are led to believe.

Not sure what moray is saying about distance through system.

Pressure drop relating to temperature is the only thing I can see making a difference across length of system, unless the exhaust leaks.

The affect of the twisting I guess is to increase the presure difference between the beginning an end of exhaust thereby sucking the exhaust out. If you do this higher up the system, you would temporarily decrease the pressure before the blades, then increase it afterwards before expelling to atmosphere.

Surely this would make any effct useless.

i would guessit is crucial to place the baldes as close to the tail pipe as possible to extract any benefit. the BPM doing thisinplace of the rear silencer.

Moray, no I have not yet received any patent numbers, and continue to have no idea what is going on inside my back box.

they definitely look like snake oil, but I like the idea of my exhaust having "teeth". Anyway, the Starsky & Hutch stripe is peeling off my car -- time to go to Halfords ...

Adam,

If my theory about "twisting" the gas before the exhaust exit (I.E. "spin" the gas through the system) is "useless", what does your fancy Twister Mark III (with wings?) backbox mostly actually do then, mostly? Other than temporary resurrections?

Yep, that is embarrasing for me. There are many who believe anything they read, requardless of what country they are from.

I saw in a Pep Boys (Automotive Retail Chain) a gold plated non-working cellular antenna. The caption read; "impress your friends" "feel important" it was just pathetic.
