Default 1994 Prodrive car. Should I buy?

I have the chance to buy one of the first Prodrive cars, its a 1994 M reg uk car.
Its 1 of only 25 made.
Still have the Recaros, Speedlines, carbon trim, ecu and plaque so i have no doubt its genuine.
As always, its needs some work but its in good shape for its age. Body is good, minor rust to one arch. Starts and drives fine.
As the body is decent, I want to have
new brake lines
calipers, discs and pads all round
wishbones
arbs
subframes and arms
all renewed to make it mint underneath then park it up and forget about it.
Also will pull the engine and clean it up, new rocker seals and gaskets too. New timing belt and service.
It has a horrible exhaust so will put a standard cat and heatshield back on as well

My issues is its 164k miles and very little history.
obvoiusly this will affect its resale value when I come to sell it on in years to come
Its advertised for £1000 so I cant really loose but does anyone have any idea what sort of value to put on it? Its a rare car, but big miles and no history.

Thought I recognised the plaque, not on original engine and needs a gearbox?
Could be a money pit if rust is bad on the inside,
A gran aint much tho so probably can't lose

Yep thats it. Rust isnt that bad. Ive fixed much worse on Evos and Type Rs.
I have a gearbox here with same code which will go in.
Have no doubts, it will look good when Im finished with it, with all new parts.
Its just the miles and lack of paperwork that bothers me

Also, its not necessarily had an engine replacement. As the owner thought it should be a CDB that was fitted due to the age of the car.

Have you thought about contacting Prodrive? Write them a letter. I say letter as they might send one back with details on the car. Sure that would add value.

Well, the last MOT that expired 7 months ago wasn't that bad - other than general underbody corrosion, but it sounds like you are up for that. Not sure it will ever have the return you might be looking for, but it depends how long you want to keep ? If its: Buy for £1k, spend £2k on it and sell for £5k in 2 years I think you will be struggling ?

Plan was to stop the rot and stick it in a garage and forget about it. 5-10 years

I paid £1000 for it and considering similar age WRX and over double thats at present, I cant see me loosing money on it.
Ill get it motd, try and stop the rust from getting any worse and tidy it up then put it away for a few years. See what happens.
