Default FSTi for the taller driver!

Hey.

I popped a thread over on subaruforester.org - http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulle...driver-767193/

But as there's a wealth of knowledge on here too, thought I'd try here too...

So, I bought a rather nice FSTi at the weekend [known on this forum, pics to come soon].

Drive home was great, love the car. However, if there was one thing I wish I could improve it would be the fact that at 6'6" my legs/knees do touch the steering wheel quite a bit [even with the seat all the way back and down].

I am used to this kind of thing as cars of this age weren't really built for people my height I guess?!

As it's an STi I imagine the seat is already lower than an non-STi Forester, so I'm not holding out any hope for the option to get the seat even lower [do let me know if there is a way to do this].

My next thought was maybe look at getting a steering wheel with a flat bottom, as this may give me a precious few extra centimetres for my legs? Any help with my options for a replacement steering wheel would be gratefully received...I have noticed images of/older threads on a DAMD flat bottom wheel?

Cheers.

Welcome. There was an sti seat that was lowered for sale on here for quite some time. Check the sale thread out I'm sure it will come up. Whether it would match I can't say.

The other option would be to have yours lowered?

Could also try a snap off boss and dished wheel,

however you may find reaching the indicator stalk a little hard

If lowering my seat was an option I'd certainly look into that. Had a quick google search but couldn't find any definitive answer...will have a proper look when I'm at home tonight.

Hi

I am just over 6ft 8" and I've always struggled in cars, I have a hawk sti which I struggle with especially the lorry sized steering wheel. I purchased a Damd flat bottom wheel and it's loads better for room, legs do still touch it but no way near as bad as before.

Cheers for the feedback mate. Sounds like getting a DAMD (or similar) wheel is a must then. Got to find somewhere that sells them now, I know they aren’t cheap.

Have you looked into the possibility of lowering the seat/bracket as mentioned above?

You need to get an FSTi...won’t sort the leg or rear passenger room but plenty of head space

This was the listing I was referring too. The guy has just bumped it.

Cheers. Noticed on his eBay ad that the seat is in a fixed position [doesn't slide forward or back]. I couldn't afford to lose this adjustment.

I dropped Sumo Power a quick email about whether they have DAMD wheels in stock...they just came back and they do! Might be purchasing one of these as it certainly seems to of helped the shreksta.
