2008 STI jerks at full power
hi
i have an STI of 2008, pretty much standard factory with corsa exhaust and cobb tuning. love the car, had it for 2 years.
recently i noticed if i floor the gas pedal in any gear above 1st, car starts jerking and loses power and all kinds of crap. feels like misfire, and check engine light comes on and misfire is reported in ECU for cylinder 1. this only happens at full power. slow steady speed up can take to 5-6k rpms without jerking in any gear, but flooring it will stark jerking at 4k rpm or lower.. so i think spark plugs or pistons? but not sure what.. what an mp3 converter.. and not sure where to bring it, dealer or tuner? hate chicago dealers, they fixed me "wrong bearings" and i ended up spending another $4k on new wheels, tires and bunch of other repairs before unfixed bearings were spotted by my old mechanic friend...
any advice, friends? thanks!! =)(

It could be spark plugs? My wife had a similar problem on her Subaru and the car behaved exactly as you described as your is behaving, and a change of plugs sorted the problem out, could be other things also but i find that eliminating the easiest ones first is a better way to go when it comes to diagnosing...SJ.

there are many things that can give simular issues.
1) firstly fix ecu plugs issue, replace plugs use 7 heat if tweaked
2) check all induction hoses and boost pipes for holes cracks
3) ensure good fuel
4) Does jerk happens in sport and sport#??
5) Does it do same hot or cold? check engine temp to ECU sensor, not guage sensor.
6) Does boost relay pull in and out on pulling hard?
boost spike, spooling to quick so cuts boost,
checks @ boost pipe leaks, cr4p atmo dump valve, wastegate boost actator set wrong. TGV. vvt
is it mapped for exhaust .
Hope helps.
