Default Quest for 300hp at fly

Will a downpipe and tune get me to 300 fly on my 06 STi? She's on around 279 at the mo.

Is downpipe enough, or do I need a re-map as well?

Take it.

re-map will be needed

de-cat downpipe
decent air filter
3 port boost solenoid
walbro fuel pump

should see well over 300bhp

Are you aware of the engine issues on the 2.5?

Yes. And no.

Yank sites go on about ringlands failure - which I think is piston valves(?).

I thought a mild tune with regular servicing was ok?

So - be a good boy and stay stock...or attempt a chicken Korma re-map to nudge 300hp?

It's poor if you have to worry about 300hp, if it went at that it would have gone anyway.
Fuel pump capacity is good enough but age is a factor so to replace may be wise.

Well - she's had a full service, compression test etc. All good. Running well.

I think I'll go for it when funds allow.

I'd look for someone with experience of mapping 2.5 engines and knows about their weaknesses.

Try Slowboy in Brands Hatch - he looked after my Spec D when HG went at around 55k - that was 6 years and 50k miles ago - running 358 / 380.

Thanks for the recommendation. Those are good figures you've got!
