can you modify a 2.5" backbox to fit a 3" center section?
ive just had a 3" center section fitted along with a raptor backbox as on my previous impreza's thats what i had and i loved the sound BUT on my current impreza it just doesnt sound as good, i actually prefer the sound of the vortex box that was removed.
would headers and up-pipe make it sound different as this one has a decat up-pipe and standard headers.
my only option really is to modify the vortex i removed to fit my current 3" section, there is a custom exhaust place near me that i would use, would it dampen performance going from a full 3" down to the 2.5" at the back box?
perhaps they could chop off the 2.5" pipe work all together from the vortex and weld on some 3" pipework.

There are adaptors that are sleeve fit 3" and 2.5" flange. I'm pretty sure the one I have in the garage is a jetex part.
you'd have to cut the 3" section flange off, but it should be possible to use a sleeve as above.

Can't seem to find one now off the shelf online
However could use something like this: https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-Adaptor-Reducer-Joining-Sleeve-Connector-Any-Size-/111083884881?_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1
