Great cars, make sure you get one with a sorted engine, oh and sorted suspension
Care to expand on what in particular you would suggest needs sorting. I've got a car in mind, so wouldn't mind the input. I've had various impreza's over the years and been off the fold for a good few years so any input is welcome

Sure - HG is the engine issue on the FSTi, which the vast majority do let go. Happens at ~70k miles which ideally needs a bottom end bearing change too, so engine refresh basically
You've owned plenty of scooby's so you know the suspension wear n tear issues - the phosphor bronze bushes at the top of the damper housing elongates and the damper itself (although nothing really wrong with it) starts knocking in the slop. No real fix
I owned mine for a 5 years as a nice road car to get long distance XC great
Oh, other thing they REALLY like a drink. My 2.0 JDM hatch is a lightweight in comparison
I'm stating too many cons now, but don't let that put you off
