Default Back in a Scooby

Hi guys, and girls
After a few years away i have just bought another scooby, this time being an 05 wrx uk300. Has a fmic, pinks etc etc and has been mapped to 285bhp. My question is will the gearbox be ok as my last scooby was an sti to which i gave a lot of abuse. How many on here run circular 300 horses on the stock 5 speed ? Will it be ok ? any advise would be good
Cheers
Ian

5 speed box should be fine up to 350 nm of torque and similar bhp.

Sayingnthat i killed a 5 speed in a new bug wrx years ago which was standard.

The 5 speed just needs to be driven with a lit title mechanical respect

keep it under 350bhp and dont launch it hard and it should be ok. its torque that kills gearboxes not bhp.
i had an 04 wrx with 355bhp and the box went so i stuck in a 5 speed from a version 6 sti and it was fine for years so really luck of the draw. i much prefered the ratios in the version 6 box aswell, it had been rebuilt by api and was like a rifle bolt when shifting.

saying all of the above there are plenty of 5 speeds around and very cheap aswell so even if it does crap itself its not the end of the world, i sold my broken one for £100 and paid £400 for my rebuilt version 6 box with 4 shafts/prop and diff
