WRX or STI mods
This is my first Subaru I’ve been looking for a wide track STI But A WRX 2006 Came up for sale today at a good price so I purchased it it’s running 350 hp it has a large top mounted his intercooler new VF48 turbo, HKS wastegate
I don’t know what other modifications he cars had because the owner can’t find any of the paperwork the car goes reasonably well with not much lag at all I would say it’s well over 300 hp but the owner said it was 350 hp
it’s got the 2.5 L engine and everywhere I read people say they’re not a great engine and the bottom ends are prone for letting go it’s done 130,000 miles the car could’ve been looked after a bit better from the previous owner in my opinion but it runs reasonably well It needs about £1200 spent on the car in my opinion better suspension and better breaks and to go on the rolling road at least
I was considering still buying an 2004 wide track STI 2000cc I know where there is one that’s just come up for sale it’s got decent suspension and decent breaks and the ProDrive kit running 305 hp this car wants for nothing 110,000 miles as I could easily sell the WRX after any bits where swapped and get my money back
but I want more power so I’m in a dilemma if the intercooler and turbo goes on the STI I could swap them over and then the other goodies I don’t know if they’re compatible try doing some research and it’s not that easy to work out if it’s all compatible with the two engines as my idea behind this would be ideal and up with a more reliable engine that’s less likely to blow up as I would like closer to the 400 hp
The car I end up with will not be my daily driver it will be for track days and days out and being used for a bit of fun But I am very heavy on the brakes and the car will be driven quite hard so it needs to be done right, And if I ever sold the car it would be better to have the car that was more desirable or I would lose less money if I sold it
if I ended up swapping any bits over the WRX I would just so long as it’s got plenty of life left in it and it’s not a bad car
If anybody could give me their opinion that would be great
thanks

the vf48 turbo is suited to the 2.5 engine so sticking it on the sti will make it laggy.
the gearbox in the wrx will be on its limit at 350bhp...............the 6 speed dccd box in the widetrack will be fine well over 500bhp
well wrx
buy sti

That is a awesome reply and exactly what I wanted a straight answer
so the STI is a wide track 305 hp as standard with the ProDrive upgrade so if I want to push it over 350 hp what do you suggest
