How do I go about getting a new set cut (and immobiliser reprogrammed)?

locksmiths saying it might be a dealer job.

anyone had experience?

fyi its a 97 STI - no one seems to be able to do anything

aye its an aftermarket hornet one.... so i either need to get a new key cut (somehow) and remove the immobiliser, or get the locks fully changed >.< i cant be arsed buying a new immobiliser..

auto locksmiths wont go near it and even the dealership is sketchy, lets hope the guy Don has flagged up has some leads. He said hed get back to me later once hes finished a job.

Keep us updated Ash. I'm in the same boat as you - misplaced my keys last weekend and now down to just the spare. Was thinking of using the fella you've contacted on Facebook, but I'm a bit sceptical about sending my only key to him via post - from what I understand he needs the key and clones the transponder ?

He’s making me a mock-up of a pic I had (don’t ask why) of the key.

I don’t even have a spare or an alarm fob , but I can deal with the immobiliser at a later date if the key works. If not then it’s break in get the code and get another key made that way

Go to Timpsons ,call before you go as not all stores can do it , if you have a key with an immobiliser in it they will cut a key and copy the immobiliser it will be between 30 to 50£ , it’s quick and easy getting it done

As above Timpsons will read the code off your key , so as long as you have your key you are ok
