Would love a s203. Same back box as mine. How comes the rev counter seems to redline at 7k and not 8k?

Strange. It should redline at 8k.

Good questions. Would it have been swapped with normal Speedo?

lovely seats i remember rally day at coombe many years ago sitting in a silver s204, the seats were amazing.
Ok I’m biased, but the Spec C RA models are arguably equal to the S models and actually more ‘Rally’. Homologation came from Spec C and RA and not S203/4

yes, that's a speedo from an EUDM 2,5l car.
S203 speedo redlines at 8k.

true, 2004+ spec-c RA have the same suspension / engine treatment that the S cars have but are lighter thanks to spec-C chassis.
But you can't beat those carbon bucket seats, they are godly. Sat in those and they are perfect for a slim guy like me. Used sets go for 4k though, lotsa money.

Spec C RA and RA-R maybe 50kg lighter but they appear to be a smidge slower:

In fact the S204 is marginally the fastest of the Subaru litter around the Tsukuba track:

Your logic is flawed. You cannot just take track times off a list and expect them to be the fastest time possible.
There's so many factors that play a role such as track / weather conditions, driver and so forth.

All these times were set by Best Motoring, a japanese car show. They only had one chance to drive the RA-R in a 5 lap tsukuba battle on a damp and cold day whereas the S204 was featured in multiple episodes / races which automatically makes it more likely to get a good result.
You can look all the races up on youtube.

An S203/S204 will most definitely not be faster around a track than a spec C RA or RA-R given all cars are driven to their max potential at same conditions.

Fair comment. How about this clip on YouTube:
Can’t see the RA-R peeling away

did you not understand?

You're trying to prove a moot point by posting a video of two cars
a) whose specs are completely unknown and either may or may not be modified
b) are driven by two different drivers
c) amateur drivers at that.

Also, it's not like an RA-R will drive circles around an S204. They're still the 95% the same car with the difference being less curb weight, stiffer chassis and 6 pot brakes on the RAR.
The RA-R is going to be faster, albeit by a small margin, that's all.

I found these two S203s for sale https://buyee.jp/item/search/query/s...nslationType=1

and some on the PDF file attached (goo-net-exchange)

But why do you want to buy an S203? Since we established that the RA-R is faster and about the same price?

They don't cost the same, no. Both are great and rare cars.

Very nice example by the way!

I love the BBS wheels on the s203 and 4's. Brilliant cars

Requirement to make it uk legal.
The owners location is Malaysia though...

Agree with Gambit on the wheels I'd love a set of them for the R.

I am not an expert and not enough pictures, it doesnt look quite right to me, looks like a colection of S203 parts on a STi

Alarm bells ring or not, if i were buying any premium Special edition model, i would check Engine and gearbox numbers match VIN plate, then send picture of plate to type-ra.com.

the one below was a converted bugeye typeRA. S203 is obviously 3 to 4 times the price the bugeye.
