Default Wrx sti

Hi guys looking into buying a 2015 wrx sti I've had 12 imprezas previously, what are peoples thoughts of these and are the engines really that fragile. I want to use it as a weekend toy with the odd trackday

There's a good YouTube video explaining the problems with the 2.5 engines. To some up I think he says there more prone to fail if modified.

What's your plans?

I wouldn't worry to much, you could always forge the engine at a later date maybe?

Yeah more of a weekend blast really I've also got a cla45 as the daily. Yeah I've read that improving cooling ie intercooler and oil cooler , removing cats to reduce back pressure helps remove the heat from the engine and a air oil separator catch can apparently all help. I would generally just want bolt ons ie exhaust cooler and a map then just e joy the thing at weekends and say 6 trackdays a year

Why not buy one with a rebuilt engine?

Easier said than done I dont think I've seen any 2014-2019 forged for sale. I'm not overly bothered if I have to chuck a forged motor in it . More of a thing of how bad are the stock engines in these compared to the hatch

I think people are watching to many USA YouTube video's. Why why can't they call an engine an engine lol

I will see if I can find that video.

Oil changes every 5000 miles or before will help more than those mods. I don't think the 2.5l has got stronger since the hatch.

Why not just know in your mind that it will need a rebuild, also a rebuild on a good engine is likely to be cheaper than a rebuild on one that has self destructed,
Technically the weak link was only the pistons, then get a remap.
