Default Engine bay RUST - needs a clean up - Please help!

I recently bought a 'fairly' good condition STi.

I'm wanting to sand down the rust areas inside the engine (circled in RED) and respray the areas. . . problem is, what color of paint matches? the paint is dull unlike the 02C on the exterior.

Also, and probably asked MANY times before, What are the bolt sizes (marked in Yellow) , does someone have a diagram of them all? I've searched and searched. (ICP have bolts but buying them individually mounts up on the till).

Cheers to all..

The engine bay and other "un seen" areas are not the same finish as the outside.
For codes 02C and 42C (WRX Blue)

the "UNDERHOOD" colour is True Blue CS31

What would I need to remove the paint/rust from the upper radiator brackets??

Some sort of acid I guess. . but what works best?

Dave, I checked your post but the 'hosting site' no longer has the photos. Would you mind posting some?

you can use bilt hamber deox c gel, if you will not remove parts.

i'm using citric acid bath for rust remove

paint removal is different process, you can use media blasting

or if you use chemicals you could use paint removal products or caustic soda

lastly if you use chemicals you must wear safety equipments and good ventilation.

If the site it PhotoBucket - there is a fix ( for Chrome or Firefox)

Pinched this explanation from another site...

"....Its from Google and is free.

If you're using Google Chrome, go to the three dots on the top right corner of the screen and click them. A drop down should appear. Hover your mouse over "More Tools," and when the next drop down appears, click on "extensions". Go to the link towards the bottom that says "Get more extensions." In the search box, type "Photobucket Fix," and hit enter. I installed "Photobucket Hotlink Fix" from the top of the list, but there are others. Click the install button and once it's done, you should be able to see photobucket pictures again.

For FireFox users, click on the three bars on the right side of the screen, then click on add ons. Click search for "photobucket hotlink" and click install. Same result....."

Another approach worth considering is by electrolysis. You need a sacrificial piece of steel (a bit of sheet is ideal) for the anode (which the rust gets attracted to), and your rusty item as the (cathode). Place each item in a tub and water and mix in some soda crystals. Connect your sacrificial metal to a car battery charger positive connector, and your rusty item to the negative. Plug in the charger and wait for a few hours; you'll see some bubbling in the water. The process will flake away the rust and leave a black residue that's easily rubbed off. The advantages of this method is that you just end up with rusty soapy water which is easier to handle and dispose of, it is cheap, and the process doesn't remove good metal.
