Default Hatch 2.0 Auto 2007 (148)

Is this any good as an elderly parent's car ? Won't be looking for what I need out of a car (!), just:-

- easy and undemanding to drive ?
- ok to see out of
- comfortable
- no major mechanical / electrical pitfalls

Would like to know who has had one. Thanks

one thing about hatches is, they have MASSIVE wing mirrors on them which is very beneficial!

hatches are a great car, very underrated imo

Big mirrors sound good although that is also something to hit when parking ..!

Hatch door mirrors seem to be the same width as normal but they're taller.
Advantages of an Impreza are driving response, performance and AWD. If these aren't important to your parents, dare I say, there are loads of "normal" hatchbacks on the market which may suit them better. If they need AWD, look at Audi's with quatro option.

Bought one. Seems really un-demanding to drive which is what I wanted for them:-

- light steering, good visibility, comfortable ride, no frills (non-confusing!) interior, just enough performance.

Mirrors are big as said, and foldable which will help on a narrow drive.

Will stick some winter tyres on it and keep for a couple of months before passing it on.

It will be a lot safer being 4 wheel drive, very practical. And as we all know will last for years if looked after. Not an Impreza for the hardcore. But perfect for what you want it for.

Just had a quote from 2 Subaru dealers for an oil change service. One quoted £85 and the other £250! Both know the reg and that its an old car...

Lol I wouldn't go to a dealer. £85 not too bad. It's weird how you get different prices.
