Default Tailgate trim removal 08 hatch

Anyone got a diagram of the tailgate trim and fixings ?

I want to fit a clear lens right side centre light cluster to replace the ugly 'red all on its own' one.

Just has 3 bolts but one is hidden and i'm afraid of snapping the trim or hidden clips that run round the inside of the hatch door. Probably never been off since it was built but I dont want to push and pull any harder !

they all just "pop" off with a bit of perseverance/sustained force - just dont give it a massive yank

iirc remove/unclipping the side pillar fixings at bottom will allow the bottom to be unclipped easier

Thanks - I couldn't shift the side trim round the window which looks to stop the trim behind the centre lights from moving. Just worried about snapping fixing points and ending up with a squeaky rattle!

With the help of the diagram I found that the knack is to remove the top trim first above the window, then either side, then the big panel last.

Trouble is now that the third nut holding the fog light section is smaller than the other two and sunk in a hole which my socket set can't get to !

Default Hatch rear red eye removal

Just in case anyone else wants to do this, buy a US PRO 1/4" drive 450mm extension socket bar off eBay for £5. Best £5 i've spent for ages and both clusters now match !

It's also a job you get used to when removing the rear lights to clean the green crap out of the very irritating lip of the lights.
