Your most likely looking at £1000-£1500. If you do sell I might be interested. If I was you I would get it fixed and forged.

Have you ever run low on oil? Does it have any service history? Does seem odd.

get it forged then either keep or sell , bottom end plus pistons still normally fine at that mileage especially on a 2 litre , could be a hg fail and that’s where it’s leaking from maybe ? or even a more worn valve , what for the garage to take it to pieces and you will know more

Is the garage you have gone to knowledgeable around subaru’s ? , if not find one who knows the car as they are quirky to work on , i would re build engine , if engine is scrap then get a used engine , but you don’t always know about history on a used engine , i’m assuming rest of the car is in a good state and it’s a keeper , at 80 k on a 2 litre unless it’s been heavily abused or running with issues like a poor map , i’m surprised it’s had a bottom end failure , i prefer the 2.5 engine but if you said 80 k failure on that i would not be as surprised , what were the compression readings ?

Not sure the exact pressure readings I just know it was quite down on number 2
yea I was very very surprised why I got a 2.0 had them before too ...the garage is part of subaruforyou so should know yes
as I say it drives as it should just warning light flashing slight juddering at tick over

ok , so Len is looking at it , he knows his stuff , if it’s a keeper then get it done , if it’s getting on and you don’t want it then your call , it maybe something simple who knows ?

depends on how honest you are in the advert lol ,, id say £1000-2000 depending on its body condition ,,, I regularly pay £1500-2000 for ones that are running fine but need body bits doing but people are less likely to take on engine problems

it would be worth more if you broke it , you need to be honest about the engine or it’s not fair on others , and if it’s not running right as soon as some one test drives it they would clock on

Yea I’d be honest I’ll getting garage to try source a new engine I’m not technically into engines etc so see what he says it but £1500 doesn’t sound too bad if I move it on ....car worth about 4K if engine done tho ish

i’m more fingers crossed that it would be a sensible repair cost , based on it being a decent car , not many wagons out there , even though i’m running a 6.2 litre wagon lol

What’s happened to the engine? A stock 2L WRX with 83k, seems low mileage.
