After a bit of help here. My 03 WRX is in for its first MOT with me and it is a Scoobyclinic stage 1 with de-cat. I know decats are not good and I feel bad for it (Yes, I know Scoobies are not environmentally sdound but you have to at least make the effort).

I have no probs with decat, even if I lose a horse or five. The question really is.... Will it need a remap if it goes from no-cat to sports cat? Ideally, a more subtle exhaust than the 3" Typhoon as well!

Running 287BHP at the moment.

I disagree, you would need a tweak going to other way, but it wont need a tweak for safety of the engine fitting a sports cat.

 

I'll go one different and say it'll need checked and the mapper will tell you if it needs a tweak.

 

I was told by my mapper that anything that affects performance needs a remap. I would say a sports cat affects the performance even if it the wrong way.

 

I've had sports cat and full stainless 3" bore exhaust and no remap. Mainly cus Andy won't fit a used ESL board.

 

I went from decat (Bob Rawle) 343 bhp to PPP sports cat (Andrew Carr) 326 bhp on my old 2003 wrx sti.

Different mappers but car definitely needed a re-map.
