Default Timing belt cover bolt removal.

I’m trying to change the timing belt on my 2005 blob however the two top bolts on the N/S cover next to the battery are turning but not coming out. I assume the captive nut on the back cover is rotating. It won’t pull out. Can anyone tell me my options please?

Really need these bolts out.

Thanks.

Dave.

sometimes you can pull the plastic as you are turning the bolt and this frees it up. failing that you may need to hacksaw blade the head off

B+Q do 10 packs of carbon steel junior hacksaw blades for £2-4.I know this because I was under the Impreza using them on a rusted bolt and retainer yesterday...

basically the bolt seizes in the 'captive' nut that is bonded into the plastic which then breaks free and simply spins........
