Blogeye JDM vs Hawkeye JDM

Blogeye JDM vs Hawkeye JDM
Hi,
I currently own a Classic RB5, but fancy adding another Scooby to the collection.
First thought was the RB320 - but all seem to be around the 20K mark - above budget - and a few comments ive read say it would be better to get a JDM instead.
That got me looking at the blob and hawkyeye JDM'S
Ive found a fair few posts about the differences, but these posts focus on the UK spec and mainly the 2.0 vs 2.5 engines
I "think" the JDM Hawks had the same 2.0 as the JDM blobs - so this also reduces the tax in the UK ( ? ) to the £280 and not the £450+ ?
Other question was the twinscroll turbo - I read on one post that the Jap imports lost the standard burble noise due to the different urbo . I love the Scooby distinctive burble - does the twinscroll turbo remove this all together ?
Ive found a 53 Blob 57 plate Hawk on ebay for very little difference in money with similar miles.
Does anyone have any advise on these - or what to look out for ? ( looks arent really an issue as i love the look of both )
Thanks in Advance

The JDM's are cheaper to tax because they're imported and classed under PLG (Private Light Goods) vehicle rules and as such are not taxed per the emissions rules of UK cars. That applies to all imports, not just blob/hawk.
JDM's do lose the burble because of equal length exhaust manifolds, not specifically due to twinscroll. Although all twinscrolls I' believe have equal length exhaust manifold headers.
Pick the one you like the most as mechanically they will essentially be very similar nee the same. Apply the same rules to buying any car, check for rust, damage and general condition.

Engines should be the same on both JDM cars as they should be twin scroll turbos.
If they are priced similar with same miles my preference would be the JDM Hawkeye model as this will be a Widetrack model being a 2007.
The 2003 JDM Blob will be a non-widetrack model and less desired and worth quite a bit less than against a widetrack model.
The widetrack models for the JDM Blobeye came out in 2004-2005.
So this is another thing to consider

AS above the hawk would be the better car.
Thats nice, its a bit too black for me but a wheel change would sort that right out.
Do a carvx.jp check for any past issues from Japan.
