Default FMIC pipe clamps keep breaking

so my 2007 hawk sti has a japspeed fmic fitted, its been on there around 5-6 years now. in the last 4 months the car has broken down due to a pipe clamp breaking.

1st time the car was still driveable but no power so i had it transported to thwaites in warwick who fitted a new one for me (i believe it was somewhere on the N/S

2 days ago i was driving along @ 30mph and the engine just dies so i pulled over and tried to restart but it was having none of it, it would turn over but kick out black smoke so i rang recovery who came out to me. we had a good nosey round and found that the clamp that holds the silicone joiner in place down by the washer bottle had fractured and the fmic pipe was out of the silicone joiner so we put it back in and held it there and the car ran perfectly so i ran across to a motor factors and got a cheap jubliee clamp to get me home.

can i get upgraded boost pipe clamps anywhere?

the pipe that came out 2 days ago is hardly in the silicone joiner so i may have to get a longer piece of silicone hose to ensure a better fit.

cheers

Get Murray constant tension clamps from Owen developments. I don't have a fmic but have changed all my clamps to these including the coolant ones. They look nice as well which is a bonus

What is the japspeed pipework like? Do the joiners have lips on them? If not maybe have a couple of blobs of weld put onto the joiner to give the clamp something to hold onto.

If you get stuck again just unplug the maf sensor and the car will run well enough to get you home

we use Murray clamps and have found them superior to anything else both in terms of quality and their boost potential..........

I had to make some quick & dirty modifications to my FMIC pipes last year just before a trackday, which meant some pipe ends lost their bead and would blow off.
Made this little beauty below to reform a new bead. Kept the alu warm, took it slow and steady and it worked a charm.
