Roger Clarke or Scooby Clinic
Been considering getting my Bugeye STI tuned either Stage 1 or Stage 2.
My two closest tuning companies are;
Scooby Clinic which is closest approx 1 hour
Or
Roger Clarke Motorsports which is like 2 hours.
Has anybody used any of these companies and is one better than the other?
I currently have a Standard Car with 30k miles only well maintained it only has a cat back Blitz Nur Spec Exhaust.
I want approx 350bhp so not sure what I need. I know a Sports Cat, Updated Fuel Pump and Sports Filter with a Remap should get me approx 330hp. I think to get higher I need to upgrade the turbo?
Has anybody had a stage 1 and stage 2 tune to compare both and can anybody tell me if an Uprated turbo is worth it.
Will the engine cope ok with a stage 1 and 2 or will I require upgrading things in the engine such as oil cooler better intercooler etc to make it safer. I am looking for ultra safe and reliability therefore if Stage 1 is the only safe option then that's what I would choose.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. 👍

RCM will cost more, but I would deffo use RCM. Quality of work and knowledge is better and you don't become one of the world's leading tunning garages for no reason . If you look at all the big builds you'll find some sort of RCM part.

Do you have any idea of costs from RCM for Stage 1 and Stage 2?

Have you had Stage 1 and 2 if so what was the difference like?
Was your car reliable after tuning?

What power are you running and can you remember the cost.
Would it be beneficial to fit a better Oil Cooler and Catch Can to help with reliability?

RCM are very good and they fully charge you for it,It’s a no brainier really if ScoobyClinic is closer go to them if RCM are closer to you use them Simples! The term stages that certain companies use is just a break down in modifications that they recommend you getting if your starting with a standard engine and looking to improve the performance, instead of guessing what mods to do or just coming on to forums and getting wasteman advice from members who drive metros, not aimed at you mate, just one of the reasons that i don’t come on scoobynet too much these days.SJ.

I think Duncan Graham does the mapping at RCM's. Or at least he used to.

Ignoring stages - What is your end goal? What is the car used for? I mean power/torque wise as that's what its going to drive what needs doing.
Either of the places above will do a good job for you. RCM will be dearer and have a library of gucci parts to throw at your car. SC can throw what ever you want at the car and have arguably one of the best mappers in the country at their disposal.

The only car I've had that went bang was a classic Impreza with Ecutek and no other mods (about 250bhp). It was run exclusively on V-Power and was still under warranty but only lasted 45 minutes on track before (according to the Subaru dealer) oil stopped getting to where it needed to.

I think Scooby Clinic will be suffice for what i need and they are closer. If they have a good Mapper thats probably the most important aspect of the tuning package. After all if its mapped wrong thats what will cause any engine issue.

I would like approx 350bhp but i believe this is at a crossover point as to weather i need an upgrade turbo. This is why i asked if a Turbo upgrade was worth it and if it made a substantial difference.
I dont really want to rebuild the engine but this is not completely ruled out, however, i believe to forge the motor i would be looking around £3500??
Just looking for some input from you guys who have various levels of tuning from 330bhp to 380bhp and what each level requires with estimate prices. Also the real world difference on the road?

Sorry, i shouldve read your first post properly. You've pretty much answered your own question there. The mods you've listed will see you to 330 plus maybe more. I ran a similar setup in my car at 340hp, although with a decat and piston rings on the way out lol.
What the car makes is next to irrelevant imo, so long as it drives as you like it and you're happy with how it performs thats what counts.
there no need for an oil cooler or a catch can. These are more for track use in my opinion.
Turbo upgrade - I personally wouldn't bother upgrading. If you want more than what it makes from this modding session, thats where to go first. If you absolutely must make more than 350 a new turbo or a rebuild/hybrid of what you have will be required.
Forging can be more expensive - depends on the parts and builder used.
