Default How to clean a stainless steel exhaust

So I've tried to clean up my Prodrive exhaust, and struggling to find how to best clean without damaging the metal.

Done a few tests on another exhaust and tried a few things and didn't come out well.

Just want all dirt and tar removed and shine it up so looks nice and sparkly.

assuming that’s the same as your normal jif/cif, it’s a scouring cream so it works but it will leave polishing marks, like a course cutting compound. These can be polished out with a metal polish, like brasso, or Flitz. Preferably with a buffing ball on a drill as it’ll take forever doing it by hand.

...Just had to do the same on the chrome lids on a Aga cooker after someone took a scouring pad to it

I’d do a rinse with power washer if you have? Normal soapy wash if not, then decon spray, wash, tar remover then wash and see how that works out before going metal to metal on it.

I don't know, I've used it in the kitchen and skin came up well. So thought might be perfect for exhaust but doesn't seemed to have done much.

Tried micro fibre cloths and washing up liquid that cleans it up well. But I want all tar removed and shining like new.

Thanks for all the tips, not heard of some of those suggestions. Got drills I will search eBay for a buffing ball lol

yes like this, but you need really powerful drill or something like that.

i don't know your cat back situation but, you should need another pad like this and of course polish paste

Thanks that seemed a good video. Going to order some polish and buffing tools. Got a few angle grinders, I have an impact gun. Might need to borrow a drill as mines wrecked.
